Renowned for its Japanese-inspired cuisine, opulent interiors, and vibrant nightlife, this restaurant promises a sensory feast with its high-end glamour and surrealist décor. With a menu crafted by Chef Director Bjoern Weissgerber, Sexy Fish offers a blend of classic and innovative dishes, featuring everything from exquisite sushi platters to tantalizing signature cocktails.
Design and Performance
When it comes to the design of this opulent venue, Access Flooring played a pivotal role in ensuring that the infrastructure was as impressive as the culinary offerings. We partnered with the designers to supply and install a high-performance raised flooring system by Lindner T & G high density Gypsum system on pedestals, capable of withstanding loads of up to 3 metric tonnes. This structural solution not only supports the heavy-duty demands of the restaurant environment but also allows for flexibility in interior design and maintenance.
The raised flooring system integrates seamlessly with the restaurant’s unique aesthetic, providing both functionality and durability. It supports the lavish decor elements, including Damien Hirst’s sculptures and Frank Gehry’s iconic ‘Fish Lamps,’ which create an immersive dining atmosphere inspired by the depths of the sea.

Design Brief
The design brief for Sexy Fish Manchester required a raised flooring system with a 900mm void that could withstand the weight and movement of a mobile operated platform used for maintaining the intricate ceiling and lighting installations. We collaborated with the client to specify the “Floor and More” product, choosing panels and an understructure engineered to safely support the heavy machinery. This robust solution ensures the longevity and functionality of the venue, accommodating both the operational and aesthetic demands of this luxury restaurant.
